I have had 3 of these feeders for over 10 years. I generally like them ~ however they do have a design flaw in the small gaps in the corner angles. I have had 2 incidents where squirrels have had toes stuck in these gaps causing toes to be ripped off. I taped all of the gaps with duct tape. I have owned this feeder for over six years. I have not observed dead birds due to the design or workmanship. My feeder is in great shape except for the bin, it has yellowed and cracked, I need a new bin. Due to this it has not used in for a few years. I want to help feed our birds this winter. I really enjoyed this feeder for a long time, mainly because it has such a large capacity and many birds can fit around it, and it seemed sturdy. However, one day I walked out to refill it and found a dead finch hanging by its little foot from it.
