Hematinics contain iron, copper and B-vitamins that are essential building blocks for the body’s red blood cells. Vitamin B-12 is used in the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Iron is essential for the formation of the hemoglobin within these cells. Copper acts as a coenzyme in hemoglobin production. Cobalt is also needed for B-12 utilization.

Most horses have approximately 40 quarts of blood in their body. Red blood cells carry oxygen to tissues and cycle carbon dioxide back to the lungs. Typically the red blood cells out number the white immune system cells about 1,000 to 1. A third of the red blood cells are hemoglobin, which are produced in the bone marrow. The red blood cells have a life cycle of about 3 to 4 weeks.

Thanks to Equi-Cell we have had a great year. I am leading the California Women’s Professional Rodeo Circuit. I really feel none of this would be possible without your help and support.
