Technical Information

Directions: Place feeder where it is easy for you to watch, and accessible to your squirrels. Open feeder top and place Chuckanut Premium Squirrel Diet into the hopper. Your feeder may be used for birds and squirrels. If you only want to feed squirrels, the manufacturer recommends that the glass is turned over, which will not allow the seed to fall into the tray. A stick is provided to prop the feeder top open until your squirrels become accustomed to eating out of the hopper. Squirrels are trusting creatures of habit, and should be given time to adjust to a new feeder and diet.

I like the size of this squirrel feeder and the shelf where they stand. But because it is put together with staples, it falls apart quickly. I have learned to screw it all together before I hang it up.Debra, Sat Aug 04, 2012

I'm a bit surprised by all of the negative comments. My feeder lasted about five years. Maybe I had better luck because I didn't try mounting it. I kept mine on the ground. I had it for a few years in California, then took it with me to Arizona, so it's been used by many different species of squirrel. I found it to be very well built and durable. I have purchased 2 of these and won't purchase any more. The squirrels destroyed both of them within a few months. The hinge came loose within a few weeks. Overall a big disappointment.Sharon Hamersley, Thu Jan 27, 2011

I installed two of these feeders in June 2010. By mid October 2010, both feeders were destroyed. The squirrels broke the feeders simply by repeated jumping from the tree to the feeding platform, thereby pulling the platform and sides of the feeder away from the back of the feeder. The wood parts are secured together with long thin staples. Very poor construction. Screws should have been used.Corrado Cirillo, Sun Oct 17, 2010

I followed your instellation instructions to the letter. Unfortunately the squirrels did not. The feeder lasted one day. It is totally destroyed. In my opinion it was poorly designed and built. A poor product and that was confirmed by the dealer who no longer carries this item in stock for that reason. I would not recommend this to anyone.Martin Graves, Sun Jul 25, 2010
